You published it? You publish the replication attempts
Sanjay Srivastava suggests a “pottery barn rule” for journals, to change the incentives for doing direct replications. The gist of it is, if a journal has published an article, they are now obligated to publish short reports of replications. They need to be performed well, but need not have successfully replicated the original research. Sounds good at first glance.
